Indian Wells, Short Canyon, and Sand Canyon – Visit California

Being a local very close to here make sure you are well prepared and bring plenty of water. This is the real deal Mojave Desert and we have the 3rd deadliest rattlesnake in the WORLD the Mojave Green

This year has seen a 800% climb in Mojave Green encounters and bites. Only a small number of people survive this rattlesnake bite. Know your surroundings, take extra care watching your kids and pets.

Neuroscientists awaken ghosts… hidden in our cortex

On June 29, 1970, mountaineer Reinhold Messner is about to live an unusual experience. Recounting his descent down the virgin summit of Nanga Parbat with his brother, freezing, exhausted and oxygen-starved in the vast barren landscape, he says: “Suddenly there was a third climber with us, (…) a little to my right, a few steps behind me, just outside my field of vision.” It was invisible, but there. Stories like this have been reported countless times by mountaineers, explorers and survivors, as well as by people who have been widowed, but also by patients suffering from neurological or psychiatric disorders. They commonly describe a presence that is felt but unseen, akin to a guardian angel or a demon, inexplicable, illusory and persistant.

Olaf Blanke’s research team at EPFL has now unveiled the ghost. They were able to recreate the illusion of a presence in the laboratory, and provided a simple explanation. They showed that the “feeling of a presence” actually results from an alteration of “sensorimotor” brain signals, which are involved in generating self-awareness by integrating information from our movements and our body’s position in space. In their experiment, Blanke’s team interfered with the sensorimotor input of participants in such a way that their brains no longer identified such signals as belonging to their own body, but instead interpreted them as those of someone else. The work is published in Current Biology.

Generating a “ghost”
The researchers first analyzed the brains of 12 patients with neurological disorders – mostly epilepsy – who have experienced this kind of “apparition.” MRI analysis of the patients’s brains revealed interference with three cortical regions: the insular cortex, parietal-frontal cortex, and the temporo-parietal cortex. These three areas are involved in self-awareness, movement and the sense of position in space (proprioception). Together, they contribute to multisensory signal processing, which is important for the perception of one’s own body.

The scientists carried out a “dissonance” experiment. Blindfolded participants performed movements with their hand in front of their body. Behind them, a robotic device reproduces their movements, touching them on the back in real time. The result is a kind of spatial discrepancy, but because of the synchronized movement of the robot, the participant’s brain is able to adapt and correct for it.

Next, the neuroscientists introduced a temporal delay between the participant’s movement and the robot’s touch. Under these asynchronous conditions, distorting temporal and spatial perception, the researchers were able to recreate the ghost illusion.

An “unbearable” experience
The participants were unaware of the experiment’s purpose. After about 3 minutes of the delayed touching, the researchers asked them what they felt. Instinctively, several subjects reported a strong “feeling of a presence”, even counting up to four “ghosts” where none existed. “For some, the feeling was even so strong that they asked to stop the experiment,” said Giulio Rognini, who led the study.

“Our experiment induced the sensation of a foreign presence in the laboratory for the first time. It shows that it can arise under normal conditions, simply through conflicting sensory-motor signals,” explained Blanke. “The robotic system mimics the sensations of some patients with mental disorders or of healthy individuals under extreme circumstances. This confirms that it is caused by an altered perception of their own bodies in the brain.”

A deeper understanding of schizophrenia
In addition to explaining a phenomenon that is common to many cultures, the aim of this research is to better understand some of the symptoms of patients suffering from schizophrenia. Such patients often suffer from hallucinations or delusions associated with the presence of an alien entity whose voice they may hear or whose actions they may feel. Many scientists attribute these perceptions to a malfunction of brain circuits that integrate sensory information in relation to our body’s movements.

“Our brain possesses several representations of our body in space,” added Giulio Rognini. “Under normal conditions, it is able to assemble a unified self-perception of the self from these representations. But when the system malfunctions because of disease – or, in this case, a robot – this can sometimes create a second representation of one’s own body, which is no longer perceived as ‘me’ but as someone else, a ‘presence’.”

It is unlikely that these findings will stop anyone from believing in ghosts. However, for scientists, they only exist in our minds.

Catholics are a lot like scientists.  they pray to the blessed trinity, even saying ghost. Ask outside of church if they believe in ghosts and they’ll tell you” no!” ” you are crazy if you believe in ghosts”.

But they pray to one in church.

I am crazier,  I still consider myself catholic knowing this.

Branson ‘determined to find out what went wrong’ – CNN.com

Branson ‘determined to find out what went wrong’ – CNN.com.

I am thankful to Mr. Branson for not letting the Memory of the Pilot who is a hero to the residents of Cantil be forgotten.

The story was all over the news as “Virgin Galactic” aircraft has crashed and 1 pilot confirmed dead.

Everyone was waiting for confirmation of Mr. Branson’s Dead flying his own plane.  Once they found out it wasn’t Mr. Branson not another word about the crash was reported or it was a 15 second update in between local police chase and fracking companies lawsuit.

I know Richard Branson would be very disappointed to find out, if he was the dead pilot,  reporters would be all over the desert and Mojave Airport for the next week.  This is really sick that one persons death is more important than a Pilot that died a HERO. Trying to avert the falling fiery plane from our homes. He lost his life Succeeding

The debris is less than 1/8 of a mile away from our homes with smaller debris scattered down our dirt roads and empty lots. The pilot achieved his goal.

We went out this morning. I swear this is the truth.  There is not one single nut, bolt, screw or piece of debris on ours, the neighbors, or my sisters properties.  It is scattered all around us.  Our gardens and yards somehow have no debris except some bolts on my sisters that is a county right of way area near the street. Nothing on the immediate property. We are shocked and amazed somehow our homes sustained no debris but empty lots and field are scattered with it that are right next door.

We are hurt by the empathy of national news at dissing the Pilots deaths because they were not famous or a billionaire. To residents in Cantil they are nothing short of AMERICAN HEROES who died to keep us safe. And who suffers extensive injuries in a hospital somewhere.

And all the shit talked about “Billionaire Richard Branson” as a child killer and baby murderer. What the hell. If depth of character is measured by his actions then why not measured from the fact he employs HEROES not just Pilots.  All the shit talkers would have left it to fate,  if we lived or died, and ejected. These pilots stayed and are suffering for it this very moment.

What type of injuries do you think a pilot sustains from an exploding plane falling out of the sky 45,000 feet.  FREE FALLING ON FIRE maybe.  Remember what 2 planes took out on 9/11.  This one had a Hybrid Rocket, now detached and less than 1000′ from homes.

But it isn’t as news worthy because Richard Branson wasn’t in it. I guarantee, he would have done the same thing.   Not many men have what it takes that makes Pilots who they are. As a humanitarian – It takes the “Right Stuff”  and they simply and considerately call it “their job to ensure safety,”

GOD BLESS YOU MR. BRANSON  don’t let them forget their Empathy

I want all the news, {especially when my home is in it.} not just what is a ratings winner,  death of a famous, billionaire, bachelor.  The residents will never forget the memory of a complete stranger who risked his life for our safety from the sky.

Our deepest sympathy to the families suffering with this tragic loss.

May Gods Mercy be with the wounded for a recovery that has him home by Christmas.  Our prayers are with you.
